Operations Assessments, contains very good

methodology for performing assessments.

There are three major components of an effective

assessment program: management assessments,

operational assessments, and quality assurance

assessments. For each of these, functional areas

are identified that represent specific areas of

managerial or technical activity. Within each

functional area, performance objectives are

defined that represent essential characteristics or

conditions of an effective safety program. The

criteria associated with each performance

objective are intended to serve as guidelines for

the assessments.
