Key Word Listing - TSL20013

DOE-TSL-2-2002
4.
GENERAL GUIDANCE
Document identification. Standardization documents are assigned a Functional Area
4.1
identifier from the list in Appendix A. This list is an updated version of the DoD Standardization
Areas, as identified in SD-1, modified for DOE technical standards. If applicable, DOE Technical
Standards may be assigned a more detailed FSC or FSG number, as presented in DoD
Handbook H2-1, in place of the Functional Area identifier. Following are some examples:
C
a standard on "Fire Protection" would be cataloged under Functional Area "FIRP";
C
a standard on "Training" would be categorized under Functional Area "TRNG";
C
a standard on "Packing of HEPA Filters" would be catagorized in the more specialized
Federal Supply Class "FSC 4460."
The DOE Technical Standards Style Guide defines the usage of applicable FSC, FSG, and
Functional Area assignments and specifies that they appear in the lower right corner of a DOE
standard, specification, handbook, or TSL. All DOE Technical Standards are listed in the
Department of Energy Standards Index, DOE-TSL-1, and include this assigned Functional Area,
FSC, or FSG classification as a part of the listing.
4.2
Identification of Points of Contact. The following paragraphs of this TSL further
identify the various points of contact for the DOE Technical Standards Program as of August 1,
2002. Points of contact within DOE as well as a link to points of contact within DoD are
identified.
4.2.1
DOE Technical Standards Program Office. Points of contact in the DOE
Technical Standards Program Office (TSPO), including the Technical Standards Program
manager and TSPO staff members, are presented in Appendix B.
4.2.2
DOE Topical Committees. The chairpersons of the DOE topical committees
are points of contact. These committees and their chairpersons are listed in Appendix C. The
charter and purpose of a topical committee is defined in DOE-TSPP-11.
