DOE-HDBK-1101-2004
The two most recent audit reports must be readily available for review by internal auditors,
DOE, and interested workers or their representatives. If the same findings recur in successive
audits, contractors must explain why problems were not corrected after their first appearance in
an audit report.
Questions
90. What criteria can be used to certify compliance? Must DOE contractors evaluate every
operating procedure, inspect every training record, etc.? Or can contractors use an
auditing approach that looks at representative examples of PSM practices?
DOE contractors may adopt an auditing approach that looks at representative samples as
evidence of PSM practices. The samples may include drawings, training and maintenance
records, and results of interviews with personnel. Contractors should develop their own criteria
for assessing the effectiveness of their PSM programs.
