B. Conducting Surveys - General
1. Survey hands before picking the probe up.
Demonstrate general surveys.
2. Hold the probe approximately inch from surface being
surveyed.
3. Move probe slowly over surface to be surveyed,
approximately 2 inches per second.
Explain facility policy.
C. Area Surveys
Clarify who is responsible to
1. Frequently monitor work areas.
perform these surveys.
2. Monitor upon completion of work (or prior to taking a
break and leaving the work area).
3. Monitor at least every 2 hours for work in progress.
Explain wipe survey.
4. Wipe surveys should be performed on equipment and
areas where survey instruments are not adequate to
monitor contamination.
