4.5.4.2 assure that each contract employee is instructed in the
29CFR1910.119(h)(3)(ii)
known potential fire, explosion, or toxic release hazards
related to his/her job and the process, and the applicable
provisions of the emergency action plan, and
4.5.4.3 document that each contract employee has received and
29CFR1910.119(h)(3)(iii)
understood the training required by this paragraph. The
contract employer shall prepare a record, which contains
the identity of the contract employee, the date of
training, and the means used to verify that the employee
understood the training.
4.5.5
Training for process maintenance activities - The employer shall
29CFR1910.119(j)(3)
train each employee involved in maintaining the on-going
integrity of process equipment in an overview of that process
and its hazards and in the procedures applicable to the
employee's job tasks to assure that the employee can perform the
job tasks in a safe manner.

4.6 Construction
The employer67 shall instruct each employee in the recognition

and avoidance of unsafe conditions and the regulations
applicable to his work environment to control or eliminate any
hazards or other exposure to illness or injury.
4.6.2
Employees required to handle or use poisons, caustics, and other
29CFR1926.21(b)(3)
harmful substances shall be instructed regarding their safe
handling and use, and be made aware of the potential hazards,
personal hygiene, and personal protective measures required to
safely handle or use harmful substances.
4.6.3
Employees required to handle or use flammable liquids, gases,
29CFR1926.21(b)(5)
or toxic materials shall be instructed in the safe handling and use
of these materials and made aware of the specific requirements
contained in Subparts D, F, and other applicable subparts of
29CFR1926.
4.6.4
All employees required to enter into confined or enclosed spaces
29CFR1926.21(b)(6)(i)
shall be instructed as to the nature of the hazards involved, the
necessary precautions to be taken, and in the use of protective
and emergency equipment required. The employer shall comply
with any specific regulations that apply to work in dangerous or
potentially dangerous areas.
