wording such as "Temporary Shielding - Do Not
Remove Without Permission from Radiological
Control."

When evaluating the use of shielding, the estimated
dose saved is compared to the estimated dose
incurred during shield installation and removal.

d. Source Reduction
Source reduction is another method of reducing
radiation doses. Source reduction often involves
procedures such as flushing radioactive systems,
decontamination, and removal of contaminated
items. This is done to reduce the amount of
radioactive materials present in/on a system because
these materials can add to radiation levels in an area.
