D. DOE Standards
DOE has developed several technical standards
for occupational radiation protection. Depending
on the site-specific application, some standards
are required to be followed. For example, sites
which need to monitor individual external
exposures to ionizing radiation need to follow the
DOE Laboratory Accreditation Program
(DOELAP) standards. Other standards may be
incorporated by reference in the site RPP.
Other standards provide technical guidance on
specific applications, but adherence to the
standard may not be required.
E. Other Safety Policy and Orders
In addition to the occupational radiation
protection requirements and recommendations
previously discussed, DOE has established
requirements for worker protection from other
hazards. Some of these include:
DOE P 411.1 Safety Management
Functions, Responsibilities, and Authorities
Policy
DOE O 440.1A Worker Protection
Management for DOE Federal and Contractor
Employees
10 CFR 850 Chronic Beryllium Disease
Prevention Program
