1. Control of material and equipment
This section addresses the requirements for
release of materials and equipment from
radiological areas to controlled areas.
Releases to uncontrolled areas are
addressed in DOE O 5400.5 and are not
addressed in this training. Some of the
provisions of 10 CFR 835 Subpart L:
Specifies conditions for material and
equipment in contamination areas (CAs),
high contamination areas (HCAs), and
airborne radioactivity areas (ARAs) to be
released to a controlled area
Addresses movement of material and
equipment with removable surface
contamination, on-site from one
radiological area for immediate placement
in another radiological area
Specifies conditions for material and
equipment with fixed contamination to be
released for use in controlled areas
outside of radiological areas
