G. Radiological Contamination Control Measures
Radiological contamination control measures should address:
1. Characteristics of radionuclides used:
Type of radiation emitted
Energy of radiation emitted
Half-life
2.
Preparation of areas and materials - including:
Marking, labeling, and posting of areas and
materials.
Personnel protective equipment type,
availability, and use.
Storage and containment of
radioactive/hazardous materials.
3. Good work practices - including:
Special precautions for handling liquids.
Special precautions for handling sharps.
Clean up the work area at the end of the job or
end of the day, whichever is first.
4. Radioactive waste management.
5. Radiation monitoring (including interpretation of
meter readings) during and at completion of work. If
a problem is detected or suspected, notify the
Radiological Control Organization.
