MODULE OUTLINE
II.
A. Basis for and Purpose of Radiation Dose Equivalent Limits
and Administrative Control Levels
1.
Basis for DOE dose limits
a.
DOE has established radiation dose equivalent
limits for general workers. These limits are based
on guidance from national and international
scientific groups and government agencies, such
as:
1)
International Commission on Radiological
Protection (ICRP)
2)
National Council on Radiation Protection and
Measurements (NCRP)
3)
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
b.
The radiation protection standards for all DOE
workers are described in 10 CFR 835,
"Occupational Radiation Protection." These
regulations apply to DOE, its contractors, and
persons utilizing or working in DOE facilities and
include dose equivalent limits.
