Module 6: Radiological Access Controls and Postings
Instructor's Notes
a.
General Radiological Work Permit
1)
This should be used to control routine or
repetitive activities such as tours and
inspections or minor work activities in areas
with well characterized, stable radiological
conditions.
2)
General RWPs should not be approved for
periods longer than 1 year.

Job-specific radiological work permit
1)
This should be used to control nonroutine
operations or work in areas with changing
radiological conditions.
2)
It should only remain in effect for the duration
of a particular job.

An alternate formal mechanism, such as written
procedures, experiment authorizations, or other
written authorization, may be used in lieu of an
RWP. The alternate method should include the
elements of an RWP.

Information found on the RWP
The RWP should include the following information:
a.
Description of work.
b.
Work area radiological conditions
This information may also be determined from
area radiological survey maps/diagrams or the
radiological posting for that area.
c.
Dosimetry requirements.
