DOE-STD-3007-93
FOREWORD TO THE REVISED EDITION
This revision to the Standard was prepared in accordance with the DOE Implementation Plan for Defense
Nuclear Facility Safety Board (DNFSB) Recommendation 97-2. The Department committed to revise and
reissue DOE-STD-3007-93 to include specific annotated examples of criticality safety evaluations that rely
upon comparative analysis to existing data and calculations to emphasize the acceptability of this
approach. Two examples (five and six) have been added to the appendix of the standard fulfilling this
commitment. The examples are actual criticality safety evaluations from DOE sites. These two were
selected from approximately a dozen candidates submitted for consideration by the DOE Criticality Safety
Support Group (CSSG) formed by the DOE Implementation Plan. The DOE Office of Environment,
Safety and Health, Office of Nuclear and Facility Safety, prepared the revision. The CSSG members were:
