Review and discuss the facility philosophy and process for obtaining
and using industry- and facility-specific operating experience.
Specifically discuss the role of the shift supervisor in this process (e.g.,
providing the perspective of an operator in the review process and
sharing facility-specific operating experience in a complete and candid
manner).

Discuss several examples and the facility-specific benefits derived from
obtaining and incorporating the lessons learned from industry- and
facility-specific operating experience. Include in this discussion how
the use of lessons learned from operating experience has prevented
several events and how better use of operating experience could have
prevented several events. Emphasize the role of the shift supervisor in
achieving the maximum benefit from the examples discussed and the
lessons learned from operating experience in general. Discuss how the
shift supervisor can impart similar attitudes and resulting behavior to the
operators. Also, discuss how the shift supervisor can influence support
personnel to use the lessons learned from operating experience for their
benefit.
