Facility Modifications
The purpose of this module is to enable the shift supervisor to initiate and implement
facility modifications in accordance with facility policies and procedures. Topics for
training may include the following:
C
Determination of what constitutes a modification
C
Modification implementation procedures
C
Policies and procedures
C
Technical Safety Requirements and approval
C
Configuration change control
C
QC requirements
C
Replacement parts and component requirements (equal-to or better concept)
C
Post-modification activities, such as testing, drawing update, procedure changes,
and training.

Nuclear, Industrial, and Radiation Safety
The purpose of this module is to enable the shift supervisor to understand and
effectively manage the safety requirements as defined by applicable DOE orders and
directives. Topics for training may include the following:
C
Safety analysis reports
C
Job safety analyses
C
Handling of safety matters
C
Industrial safety programs
C
Applicable DOE orders
C
As-low-as-reasonably-achievable (ALARA) Program
C
Occurrence reports.

Interfacing With External Groups and Organizations
The purpose of this module is to enable the shift supervisor to interface with external
organizations in accordance with established facility policies and procedures. Topics for
training may include the following (Note: Some topics listed may only apply to
multifacility sites or facilities still under construction):
C
Corporate organization (whether onsite or offsite)
C
Corporate policies concerning industrial relations and hiring practices
C
Corporate-level goals and objectives
C
Department of Energy and other federal agencies
C
Areas of corporate support for facility activities (such as maintenance support)
C
Lines of communication appropriate to the managerial position
