THRESHOLD LIMIT VALUES (TLVs). Airborne concentrations of substances or
levels of physical agents, and represent conditions under which it is believed that nearly
all workers may be repeatedly exposed day after day without adverse health effects.
TLVs are issued by the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists

equivalent (for external exposures) and the committed effective dose equivalent (for

TRANSPORTATION EVENT. Any real-time occurrence involving any of the following

transportation activities: material classification, packaging, marking, labeling, placarding,
shipping paper preparation, loading/unloading, separation/segregation, blocking and
bracing, routing, accident reporting, and movement of materials. Transportation events
with injury(ies) may also require reporting in accordance with Group 3 criteria.
A. OFFSITE TRANSPORTATION EVENT. This event involves movement of
materials which are considered to be in commerce, thus requiring compliance with
U.S. Department of Transportation Hazardous Materials Regulations.
